Since I was away for a few days, I haven’t had the time to work on anything so I jotted a few ideas down. I wanted to focus on the beauty standards black women have to face in order to “conform” to society. black beauty should be recognized and appreciated and not be largely devalued. With doing some research, I found that many black women had to wear wigs, or straighten their hair bc they have been fired from work or expelled from school for wearing their hair naturally or having them in braids. It’s a part of their culture and it’s a way for them to protect their hair which society chooses to repress. black women have also been ridiculed for having skin that’s “to dark” or wearing colorful clothing that’s “too loud and distracting” and many women felt that they needed to change themselves.
